Surreal Dynamics

We have inspired ourselves, exploring how we sleep and dream, and how our body works. Along with the abstract visuals, we tried to explore more than just basic dreaming. “Surreal Dynamics” is conveying how our designs reflect dream spaces based on physiology of the body.

Not only it is about physiological perspective, but also concentrating on unconscious statement. As our project theme is Lucid Dream, we aimed to express what we feel and what we think about dreams.

Sticker Design

  • To further develop this experiment, We created a series of sticker pack, integrating the visuals we created using touch designer. All stickers represent what dreams are in an abstract way.

  • "You can see some stars in stickers. In a way of interpretation for dreams, stars usually have very good meaning for the future. Some kind of luck will be turned on if you dreamed about stars!
  • So, we hope you guys enjoy our dreamy works, that’s why we put some stars in the design. Plus, wish you luck."

  • Noise Grid









  • Despite both visuals being based on the same noise grid framework, our interpretations differ significantly in style and atmosphere. Kyuwon’s visuals emphasize the dynamic, abstract nature of dream spaces, using sharp contrasts, while Yerin’s visuals explore the organic, cellular structures of the body, focusing on softer, more rounded forms that convey a sense of physicality and biological texture.

  • These visuals represent the dynamics of dream spaces. The bold black, red, and white color palette combined with geometric distortions and noise elements evokes a sense of disorientation, mimicking the way spaces morph and shift within dreams.

    The sharp transitions and contrasting movements illustrates the unstable nature of dream spaces, constantly shifting between clarity and chaos.

  • These visuals delve into the physiology of the body, exploring abstract representations of body cells and physical structures, connected to the theme of embodying dream states.

    The flowing and organic shapes create a hazy, surreal feeling, corresponding to the idea of lucid dreaming, where consciousness wavers between control and immersion in the dream environment.

  • Visually, this creation evokes the boundless nature of the universe, with vast, swirling cosmic elements representing the infinite possibilities within the dream world. Sparkles looked like Stars, nebulas, and celestial bodies create a sense of floating through space, symbolizing the dreamer's journey through their own subconscious. The dreamy, surreal atmosphere reflects the ethereal nature of lucid dreams, blending reality and imagination in a visually striking way.

The contrasting interpretations, though based on the same noise grid framework, demonstrate how different artistic perspectives can capture the multifaceted nature of dreams. Additionally, the sticker designs, incorporating stars as symbols of luck and future potential, further enhanced the dreamy, abstract theme. Overall, this experiment successfully conveyed the surreal dynamics of dream spaces, blending physiological and abstract representations to depict the complexity of lucid dreams.
